We’ve been putting on high quality plays since 1950. We normally present two plays a year, one in Spring and another for Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August. Based in Comely Bank Road, 39 Comely Bank Road, Edinburgh Theatre Arts is a business.
We usually take each of these plays down to festivals in England and Wales – the Spring production goes down to the Llandrindod Wells Drama Festival in May; the other goes to the Fleetwood Drama Festival in October. These are competitive festivals and we have won many awards over the years. We also put on a pantomime in December our first - Aladdin. In January we put on a Burns' Night with dinner speeches and after-the-meal entertainment of Burns’ songs and poems. We’re a small group who welcome new recruits. Many of our younger members have gone on to drama school after being with us for a time and some are making their presence felt on the small screen and on the stage. We rehearse twice a week – Tuesdays & Sundays 7.30 – 10.00 in St Trninian’s Church Hall, Comely Bank Road (almost next door to Waitrose and the Bank Of Scotland)..
