"Nice items, poor customer service"

Ordered a beautiful table from Reid and it was delivered ahead of schedule - so far so good. Sadly however, it developed a crack after a few weeks, I think as the wood dried out, and dealings with Reid since then have been a complete nightmare. Basically they won't entertain any refund/exchange discussion until they have sent out an inspector. This inspector uses every trick in the book to delay coming out - inflexible working hours, being on holiday, having mobile switched off all the time, failure to show up etc. Contacting customer services is a hit and miss affair, sometimes emails go unanswered, the eventual excuse? - the one person who does the emails was on holiday! try phoning customer services to spend 15 mins on hold listening to broken whitenoise before giving up. Phone their switchboard, and you get straight through, but they will only put you back on the customer services queue again. This saga has been dragging on for ages (2.5 months), and I am just about to try to claim the money back through VISA instead. The goods were nice, although quite expensive, but woe betide any customer who expects after-sale service..
