"Missing parcel"

Had ordered an expensive bracelet from a company in England - the postman was unable to get it through the letter box so a card was put through the door t(elling me that it was to go to a post office in Gorebridge (29/11/2013) when went to collect it I was told by the girl in the post office(saying that it was not our responsibility? she added try to phone the Manager in the Dalkeith depot - he told me that he was busy with the Christmas rush but would phone me back - I'm still waiting - can anyone tell me what I can do next.
