"Sanford flight-please report factually !"

A review of Globespan Group PLC by A happy passenger written on Tuesday 8th of January 2008

My family and I have travelled with Globespan previously and were very impressed.

I booked for partner and myself to travel out and back to Orlando over the Xmas and New Year holidays and we were aboard the aircraft which had the engine problem. We returned on the smaller 737 aircraft.

We both read the Daily Record article about the incident and could not believe that we were in the same situation as was described.

What we experienced There were a couple of bangs, the aircraft continued to climb then levelled off. I heard no screams and did not witness lights going out or panicking cabin crew.

The Purser came over the tannoy and told us that we would be landing back in Sanford then the Captain came on and explained in detail what had happened and what he intended doing about it.

The aircraft made a perfectly normal landing, there was no rubber mat neither was there any foam.

We got off the aeroplane, onto coaches and went to the hotel where we were fed.

A reporter and photographer then appeared and asked us for our experiences. The photographer was asking his subjects to 'look frightened and traumatised'.

I suppose it sells papers but the statements bore no resemblance to reality.

The Captain of the smaller aircraft which had apparently flown to Sanford the previous afternoon spoke to everyone from the front of the cabin, he asked for questions and said that the 757 Captain was also on board and could answer questions as well. He even walked from the front to the back of the aeroplane enquiring if everyone was ok.

The return flight went via Newfoundland which the Captain had mentioned before leaving Sanford.

I have researched what both Captains said happened, an engine stall, via Google and it is not a regular occurrence and certainly not something which could have been foreseen by anyone at Globespan.

I think that having found themselves with 200 stranded passengers, Globespan did an excellent recovery job and got us home, maybe late, but safe and well looked after. I will have no hesitation in travelling with them in the future..
